Agora Gallery will be opening four new shows in March.
Tripping the Light Fantastic: The Fine Art Photography Exhibition
Through images that are at once enigmatic and familiar, the exhibition presents digital and analog photography that utilizes the compositional and depictive elements found in color, exaggerated contrast and brilliant light. Utilizing artistic intuition and honed technique, the ethereal quality of light is depicted through each artist’s unique voice and approach to contemporary photography. Using a limited color palette and relying on light and dark composition, the artists presents aspects of the potential of this powerful visual medium. Presenting artists Alex Braverman, Dmitry Chetverukhin, Donna L. Clovis, Chris Dei, Heidi Fickinger, Alex Hiam, Eleanor Owen Kerr, Gloria Marco Munuera, Jennifer L. Pum, P Tymchuk, and Caroline Valenti.
Interpretive Realms
Directing each medium to manifest the supremacy of its expressive power, Masha Kohan, Imre G. Kohan, Anne Rudanovsky and Gisela Wåhlström present a skill and expressive prowess suitable to each medium. Works in glass, stone and paint evocate different aspects of narrative description, ranging from the monumental presence of voluptuous stone sculptures to the delicate intricacy of fine glass mosaics. In a masterful blend of the narrative with its medium of expression, the four artists present exquisite works that attest to the potential of each visual medium. Presenting artists Masha Kohan, Imre G. Kohan, Anne Rudanovsky, and Gisela Wåhlström.
The Nature of Motion
Veronica Garcia-Huidobro and Vyacheslav Shevchuk present movement as the essence of nature, demonstrated in spiritual landscapes and vivacious equine paintings. In a unique dialogue of diverse approaches, the exhibition forms a testament of the phenomena that is motion, as reflected in an individual’s perception and relation to it. Shevchuk paints the natural environment in a state of sovereign silence that attests to the presence of its interpreter, as each brush stroke carries a potent charge of perceived movement. The lithe and agility of the horse and rider form a complete melding of the individual to the natural, in Garcia-Huidobro’s spectacular depiction of power and speed. Presenting artists Veronica Garcia-Huidobro, and Vyacheslav Shevchuk.
Contemporary Reflections
With both a delicate sensitivity and a freedom of artistic abandon, the exhibition brings together daring and highly individualized reflections on the contemporary world. Free from the bounds of narrative interpretation, each work is a personal impression of free-form subconscious association, taking the viewer to realms that blend individual experience, preceding knowledge and nostalgic memory. At times subdued in meditative silence and at times charged with an intense joy gained from pure awareness, the exhibition presents paintings that take subconscious reflection to the visual plane. Presenting artists Susan Eck, Helen Del Guidice, Edward Longo, and Zoe Sherwood.
